5 Star Winery James Halliday 2014

When owner Jan Clark was planning Lindenderry at Red Hill, it was her vision to produce awarding winning wines from the estates 3.3 hectare vineyard. Today that dream is being realised, accompanied by an ever-growing demand for the Lindenderry label.

Award wining wines

The Lindenderry vineyard is over 20 years old. With 8.5 acres under vine, we have near equal plantings of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, from which we make our Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Rose.

Our Macedon vineyard at Lancemore Hill was planted in the late 1990s, we have 1.6 hectares of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. In most vintages we produce a Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, however due to drought conditions in the growing season for the 2009 vintage we were unable to harvest enough Pinot Gris. The 2008 is currently available and is drinking beautifully.

Our Milawa vineyard at Lindenwarrah was originally planted in the mid 1980's and owned by Brown Brothers. With 1.6 hectares of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, we choose one variety at each given vintage to produce a North East Victorian red from. Despite bush fires and drought we have had some strong vintages and produced some beautiful reds which complement the Lindenderry label.

2009 Lindenderry Chardonnay Pinot Sparkling

Rating 90 points, James Halliday Wine Companion. The 2009 Pinot Chardonnay is generous, opulent and enticing with a refreshing, soft finish. Aromas of guava, ripe tropical fruits and vanilla compliment the complex notes of cashew nuts and brioche. A sumptuous palate with savoury creaminess allows for generous weight and a balanced finish.

2009 Lindenderry Chardonnay Blanc de Blanc Sparkling

Made in very limited quantities the Blanc de Blanc is blended from individual parcels of cool climate Chardonnay to create a fresh and elegant wine with a soft dry finish. Fresh lemon sorbet and pistachio aromatics are complemented by subtle nougat and leafy coriander notes. Classic Chardonnay generosity provides a soft, mouth filling entry with fine, crisp acidity providing structural backbone. The perfect aperitif style sparkling.

2009 Lindenderry Estate Chardonnay

Rating 94 points, James Halliday Wine Companion. Beautifully balanced, the wine is pure and lean; flavours of citrus resonate off the palate with some matchstick complexity. The rich creamy texture is enhanced with refreshing natural acidity keeping the wine lively and zesty in the mouth.

2009 Lindenderry Estate Pinot Noir

Rating 90 points, James Halliday Wine Companion. Intense and complex ripe berry aroma with a great depth of character. The palate is finely structured with dark berry fruits and well integrated French oak provides both roundness and length.

2008 Macedon Ranges Pinot Noir

Rating 94 points, James Halliday Wine Companion. ‘Still retains bright, clear crimson, amazing; so is the vibrant red cherry fruit, clear and precise, long and well-balanced. It should be enjoyed now, in the sense it doesn't need to change any aspect, but having mooched along for five years to this point, another five won't hurt it.’ J. Halliday, July 2013.

2007 Lindenderry Reserve Pinot Noir - SOLD OUT

Rating 93 points, James Halliday Wine Companion. Highly fragrant and bright in colour, the 2007 Lindenderry Reserve Pinot Noir was produced in limited quantities from a small parcel of high quality Estate fruit. This wine demonstrates a vibrant palate with intense flavours of both red and black fruits, providing great mouth feel and length. A Pinot Noir full of inesse and balance. 'A very complex pinot, with a particular fruit character, not quite minty or stemmy, but not far removed; there are highlights of zesty red berry fruits that enliven the long palate.'

2008 Macedon Ranges Reserve Pinot Noir

Rating 94 points, James Halliday Wine Companion. Grown at our Macedon Ranges vineyard, this reserve Pinot Noir has seen extended maturation of 24 months in predominately new French oak and undergone small lot fermentation so as to maximise the individuality of a single vineyard site. A dark, savoury Pinot Noir displaying generous fruit with smooth tannin and subtle oak on the palate.
